His lyrics are thoughtful and akin to the works of songwriters like John Prine. His banjo playing is tender and thoughtful. River's original music is lyrically-driven and blends elements of folk, pop, rock, blues, and hip-hop. River's live performances are becoming more and more like musical nourishment for the soul. For this performance River will be supported by Brian Scarth (electric guitar), Randy Martin (bass), and Steve Morel (drums).
