River's new EP displays his continued growth as a songwriter as he ventures further into the vein of folk-pop music. Sweet like honey, the sparse arrangements of River's unique style on violin, mandolin, and guitar are a fine example of when less is more. With lyrics drenched in clever rhymes and conscious messages, River's vocal performance demonstrates his energetic personality and wide tonal range. Iowa Grown Folk-Pop is the product of several months spent in the city of New Orleans and is River's first foray into self-recording. Enjoy!

Nothing is Too Little is a collection of songs that I wrote in college. Near the end of my senior year, I put together a group of some of my favorite players in town and signed up for an annual Battle of the Bands. I Read more

Nothing is Too Little is a collection of songs that I wrote in college. Near the end of my senior year, I put together a group of some of my favorite players in town and signed up for an annual Battle of the Bands. I wrote out the chord progressions to my songs on some cheat sheets and had only enough time to rehearse the group twice before our first performance. The band literally read off of the cheat sheets during the competition. When it was all over, we won the prize of a free day of recording at a local studio that had sponsored the event. We scheduled a noon-to-midnight recording session, used the very same cheat sheets while recording, and cut the record.
